Field trips are free and open to the general public. Entry fees to some areas may be required and driving costs are shared. On all field trips wear appropriate clothing and bring water and binoculars. Locations subject to change due to weather, lack of birds and other factors.

19 Dec 2009: Las Cruces Christmas Bird Count
Come to the monthly chapter meeting on 16 Dec for more information. Count day is Saturday, 19 December. Count Week is from Wednesday, 16 Dec to Tuesday 22 Dec.
23 Jan 2010: Rio Bosque Wetlands
Rio Bosque Wetlands (El Paso) and other birding spots along the NM/TX border such as Heritage Wetlands, Randels Pool, Sunland Park Racetrack, and the turf farm in Santa Teresa. We will be looking for wintering waterfowl and waterbirds, gulls and raptors, and perhaps some wintering sparrows at the turf farm. 20 February 2010: Las Palomas Marsh, Percha Dam & Caballo Lake State Park: Audubon Important Bird Areas along the Rio Grande
At these diverse locations along the Rio Grande we will be looking for wintering waterfowl, rails and raptors, woodpeckers, and rare wintering flycatchers like Hammonds flycatcher and Eastern phoebe. These are stops 34, 35 & 36 along the Southwestern NM Birding Trail!

6 March and 3 April 2010: Mesilla Valley Bosque State Park
If you miss the regular MVAS trips or you just want another opportunity to go birding close to home, be sure and check out the MVBSP 1st Saturday of the Month Bird Walks. Many are guided by MVAS members; meet at MVBSP. Walks start at 8:15am.
